From Media Buyer and Planner Today: Morra Aarons-Mele, Internet marketer and founder of Women Online, says women using social media networks are “a force to be reckoned with” and marketers of brands need to recognize this. She cites weekly online data that shows 67.5 million women are logged on to social media sites, and they drive 62% of daily Facebook activity and 68% of traffic on Pinterest. They also comprise 53% of Twitter users and tweet more frequently than men.
Why This Matters: Citing the impact of women voters in President Obama’s re-election victory, Aarons-Mele says, “From selling diapers to selling a president, women’s opinions make the difference” and “social media offers marketers an opportunity to really listen to what women want… and to connect with these women in a meaningful way.”
